Nowhere to run in Pakistan →
After being exposed humanitarian crises in the Gulf, both the oil spill and the still raw scars of Katrina, it is hard not to pay attention now to disasters occurring the world over. There is currently serious flooding in Pakistan, and the situation has prompted large-scale evacuations. It was one thing to witness the aftermath of a natural disaster in the heavily developed United States, I cannot even imagine how painful it must be to deal with something like that in a country like Pakistan:

We witnessed hundreds of thousands of people on the move in Punjab province, stopping just briefly to regain strength, before continuing on along a straight road, followed by encroaching waters. It was like a flock of sheep without a Sheppard. There was no one at hand to guide these people to safer places.
The UN is making an international plea for aid.
